The best TV series to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Now, BritBox and more this May 2021

Now matter which streaming services you’ve decided (however reluctantly) to give your money too, there’s plenty to enjoy this May. On Netflix, Josh Duhamel stars as an ageing superhero ready to pass on the mantle to the next generation in Jupiter’s Legacy, while sitcom Special returns with another series. The most exciting series to arrive in May comes from Amazon Prime Video, which will play host to Oscar-winning director Barry Jenkins‘ adaption of Colson Whitehead‘s The Underground Railroad. The show follows Cora, a young woman who escapes from the Georgia plantation where she is kept as a slave an an underground train that runs to the North. BritBox will also premiere its very first original drama on 27 May. Starring Cush Jumbo and Jared Harris, revenge thriller The Beast Must Die follows a woman who ingratiates herself into the life of the man she believes killed her son.
