SpaceX is set to launch its 61st and final mission of 2022, this one aboard a Falcon 9 rocket. The EROS-C3 mission is scheduled to lift off from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at the Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB) in California on Thursday, Dec. 29, in a 56-minute window opening at 11:17 PM PST (07:17 UTC on Dec. 30). A 30% chance of favorable weather is forecasted. This launch will deploy the third NG-series satellite in Israel’s Earth Resources Observation Systems (EROS) network. Designed by Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), the satellite network is owned and operated by ImageSat International (ISI). As of July 2021, ISI is now partnered with “e-GEOS,” a company owned by the Italian Space Agency and Telespazio, which will allow for combined satellite assets, including COSMOS-SkyMed.
